HOW ARE DR.UGRAFT™ PUNCHES ABLE TO SAFELY REMOVE ALL TYPES OF BODY HAIR FOR RELIABLE GROWTH AND RESULTS?

Dr.UGraft instrumentation is designed with specific features that are built to overcome the precise issues that have long prevented the safe extraction of body hair follicles until now. One of the key challenges is the sharp exit angle of the hair relative to the skin’s surface.

Following this exact angle with a generic cylindrical punch in a straight trajectory will sever the actual follicular structure, whose exact positioning below the skin’s surface can be difficult to ascertain. Dr.UGraft™ punches rely on inner and outer threading of a flared tip punch which grabs onto the tissue surrounding the hair follicle and pulls it upward as it rotates and cuts a circular score away from the graft.

The pulling effect of the threading on the surrounding tissue intuitively follows the course of any type of follicle, regardless of how the hair is angled.

This deliberate combination of the threading and the flared punch end helps avoid typical forms of mechanical damage that would otherwise harm the grafts.

Also, the water irrigation system serves to keep the grafts hydrated during the extraction process and gently expel them when they become impacted in the punch lumen to avoid the use of forceps which could contribute to trauma inflicted on the grafts.

HOW DOES THE FLARED DESIGN OF THE DR.UGRAFT™PUNCHES (I.E. DR.UPUNCH ROTOR™) CONTRIBUTE TO BETTER FUE HAIR TRANSPLANT EXTRACTIONS?

The flared ends of the Dr. UPunch Rotor ™ represents a forward evolution from the basic beveled cylindrical shape of conventional FUE hair transplant punches. This advanced structural design helps avoid damage from typical errors, by ensuring that the cutting edge points away from the graft and into the surrounding tissue instead.

During the scoring process, a curved (non-threatening) surface faces the follicular unit. This is by far a much safer scenario compared to a standard beveled cylindrical punch where the cutting direction points towards the graft as the punch rotates.

The flared punch of the Dr. UPunch Rotor™ thus helps avoid common sources of mechanical damage that would otherwise contribute to high transection rates.

DO THE DR.UGRAFT™PUNCHES USE ANY TYPE OF SUCTIONING TO PULL GRAFTS FROM THEIR EXTRACTION SITE?

The Dr. UGraft™ instruments use absolutely no suction to pull the grafts during extraction. They are designed to strike a highly effective balance between the forces of pulling and cutting. When there is a high focus on pulling the grafts through means like suctioning, this creates a higher risk of separate the hair from the follicular structure, resulting in what amounts to plucked hairs.

Instead, the Dr. UPunch Rotor™ relies on inner and outer threading present on the punch unit. This threading creates a corkscrew-like effect to firmly adhere to the tissue surrounding the hair follicle, gently pulling it up as the cutting edge scores around the graft.

IS THE DR. UGRAFT™CENTRAL CONSOLE NECESSARY FOR USING THE DR.UPUNCH ROTOR ™ OR THE DR.UPUNCH CURL ™ ?

The Dr.UGraft™ central console is responsible for adding the water-irrigation component which enables a full system needed to avoid follicular injuries due to mechanical force as well as air drying. Therefore, while it is not necessary to use the Dr. UPunch Rotor ™ or the Dr. UPunch Curl ™, it is essential for successful graft harvesting that ensures their long-term survival.

Adding hydration to the grafts during extraction contributes to healthier, bulkier follicles that have not been damaged by air-exposure.

Using the foot pedal to propel water from an external source into the punch lumen expels impacted grafts. This eliminates the need for using harsh metal forceps (another potential source of damage) to remove them from the punch.

CAN THE DR. UPUNCH CURL ™ BE USED ON ALL BLACK PATIENTS? HOW DOES THIS TOOL ENABLE SUCCESSFUL HAIR TRANSPLANT RESULTS FOR THIS DEMOGRAPHIC?

The Dr. UPunch Curl™ is designed for successfully extracting head donor hair grafts in all black patients. Prior to the advent of this instrument, surgeons only had basic cylindrical FUE punches available to them. In most cases, this structure is highly incompatible with the unique curved shape of Afro-textured hair follicles. As a result, this rendered a success rate of only 30-40% for FUE hair transplant procedures performed on black patients.

However, the use of the Dr.UPunch Curl™ device enables all patients from this demographic to undergo successful hair transplant procedures, with the reliability of knowing that they can expect the growth they wanted at the end of 12-18 months, following their procedure.
